Bitou Municipality, situated in the Western Cape (Eden District), is committed to community development through education and skills growth.

Fields of Study Funded

The bursary prioritises full-time studies in disciplines that support municipal development, including:

  1. Artisan trades: Electrician, Plumber, Carpenter, Bricklayer
  2. Building Inspectors
  3. Civil and Electrical Engineering

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all the following conditions:

  1. Be a South African citizen
  2. Reside within the Bitou Municipal area, or their parents own ratable property there 
  3. Completed Matric
  4. Be enrolled or intending to enroll full-time at a SAQA-accredited institution in a qualifying field
  5. Preference may be given based on academic merit and financial need

  2. Alternatively, collect a physical copy from municipal offices or public libraries.

  4. Parents’ or guardians’ proof of income
  5. Proof of residence or ratable property within the municipality
  6. Banking details of the tertiary institution (on official bank letterhead)

Closing Date

No official closing date for the 2026 bursary has been published on Bitou Municipality’s official site. 

Previously, the closing date fell between late January and early February (e.g., 24 January 2025 or 2 February 2024).
