The Coronation Exceptional Student bursary supports students from disadvantaged backgrounds who want to study commerce-related undergraduate degrees.
About the Organisation
Coronation Fund Managers, founded in 1993 and headquartered in Cape Town, is a leading South African asset management company.
The Exceptional Student Bursary is part of their βInvesting in Peopleβ programme.
It is administered via Excel@Uni and is intended for learners who not only demonstrate academic excellence but also leadership, community involvement, and a drive to excel despite adversity.
Fields of Study Funded
The bursary is aimed at students pursuing Commerce-related undergraduate degrees (full-time) at recognised South African public universities.

- Mentorship, coaching, tutorial support, and professional development.
- Vacation work / practical work exposure, and after graduation, a work-back contract with Coronation for a period equivalent to the duration of the bursary.
Eligibility Criteria
You must meet all of the following:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be in Grade 12 (Matric) or have completed it.
- Be studying (or intending to study) full-time towards an undergraduate commerce-related degree.
- Study at a recognised, accredited public university in South Africa (not TVETs, private colleges, or community colleges).
- Have a strong academic record: Matric students must have at least 75% overall average; current university students must have at least 70% average in their most recent academic year.
- Demonstrate leadership potential and be well-rounded (involvement in extracurriculars or community).
- Preference is given to students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.
How to Apply
- Applications are submitted online via the Coronation bursary application portal (Aura AMS).
- Fill out the application form before the deadline: 3 September 2025 at 12:00 PM.
Required Documents
You will need to attach certified (recent, usually less than 3 months old) copies of:
- South African ID document.
- Latest Grade 11 report & most recent Matric or Grade 12 results (if currently in school).
- Matric certificate (if already completed Matric).
- University acceptance letter or proof of registration (if already studying).
- Full academic transcripts if already at university.
- A one-page motivational letter.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Proof of household income (payslips, affidavits, SASSA/Grant proof, etc.).

The application closed on 3 September 2025 at 12:00 PM. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
