2. You must have successfully completed your Matric certificate.
3. You must be studying full-time at a recognised South African University (distance learning institutions like UNISA are generally excluded).
4. You must be entering your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study (The bursary is typically not for first-year students).
5. You must be studying towards an eligible Law or Engineering qualification.
6. You must have achieved a minimum overall academic average of 70% for your current year of study.
7. You must be able to demonstrate a proven financial need.
8. Preference is given to students from the previously disadvantaged individuals (PDI) group, particularly those residing in the Nkangala District, Mpumalanga.

2. Complete all sections of the form in full.
3. Gather all necessary supporting documents and ensure they are certified copies (certification must be recent).
4. Required documents include a certified copy of your ID document.
5. Provide your Matric certificate (certified copy).
6. Include your latest academic record/university transcripts (on the university’s letterhead).
7. Attach an updated, detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).
8. Write and attach a compelling Motivational Letter explaining your commercial awareness, passion for your field, and why you require the funding.

The HKA Bursary programme application for 2026 is not confirmed as open. 

The closing date for this bursary used to be around 31 January.
