AECOM is one of the world’s largest infrastructure consulting firms, with engineers, planners and construction specialists in offices across South Africa. Its Educational Trust bursary funds engineering and quantity surveying students and takes them into the firm after graduation, making it one of the more generous built environment bursaries with a guaranteed job at the end.

About the AECOM Bursary

  • Fields: civil, mechanical and electrical engineering, and quantity surveying.
  • Value: up to R100 000 a year for tuition, prescribed books and accommodation, plus a laptop allowance of up to R8 000.
  • Renewed each year on a 65% average.
  • Includes vacation work and a work-back agreement: graduates work for AECOM for the same number of years they were funded.

AECOM Bursary eligibility requirements

  • South African citizen.
  • Studying, or accepted, full-time in a listed field at a recognised South African university.
  • First-year applicants: at least a 75% Matric average. Current students: at least 65% in the latest results.
  • No prior full-time work experience preferred, and willing to sign the work-back agreement.

How to apply for the AECOM Bursary

  1. Go to aecom.com/careers, search for “bursary” and open the South Africa bursary advert.
  2. Complete the online form and upload a certified ID, your Matric certificate or tertiary transcripts, proof of acceptance or registration, proof of household income, a CV and a motivation letter.
  3. Submit before 21 November 2026. Shortlisted candidates are interviewed before awards are confirmed for registration.
