Some Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges are still accepting late applications for courses where spaces remain available.

Late applications give learners an additional chance to start their studies in 2026 without waiting another year.

What Does Late Application Mean for TVET Colleges?

A late application means applying after the official closing dates for the regular intake.

Many TVET colleges across South Africa run their main application period between August and October of the preceding year.

If you miss those deadlines, you can still try applying early in the new year for programmes that have not filled up.

Late applications are subject to space availability.

Some colleges also allow walk-in applications, while others require online submission even for late entry.

Always confirm with the admissions office before attending.

Which Colleges Still Have Space for Late Applications in 2026?

Several TVET colleges across South Africa may still accept late applications for 2026, depending on available capacity and programme demand.

These include:

  1. Ikhala TVET College – Often open for late entry in engineering and related programmes.
  2. Goldfields TVET College – Has late application availability for business, logistics, electrical and mechanical fields.
  3. Motheo TVET College – May still accept late entries while space remains.
  4. Majuba TVET College – Known to keep some programmes open for later enrolment.
  5. Umgungundlovu TVET College – Offers late options in select subjects.
  6. Letaba TVET College – Has late applications available where spaces are left.
  7. Nkangala TVET College – Space may remain in some NCV and NATED courses.
  8. Northern Cape TVET College – Offers various courses that may still be open for late entry.
  9. West Coast TVET College – A public TVET college that provides vocational options and often keeps some programmes open beyond the official deadline.

These colleges typically accept late applications in sectors such as engineering, business, hospitality, electrical infrastructure, tourism, and transport.

Availability varies by campus and programme.

How Do You Apply for Late Entry at These Colleges?

Late applications are normally submitted online or in person, depending on the college’s process.

The basic steps are:

  1. Confirm space availability by contacting the college admissions office or checking the college’s website.
  2. Prepare required documentation such as your South African ID, certified academic results (NSC or equivalent), and proof of residence.
  3. Submit your application online through the college portal or in person, where walk-ins are allowed.
  4. Wait for confirmation of acceptance. Some colleges will notify you of your placement and provide instructions on registration and payment if required.

Because college policies and available spaces change quickly, apply as early as possible during the late window.

Do All TVET Colleges Offer Walk-in Registration?

Not all TVET colleges allow walk-in late applications.

Some require that you submit your application online, even for late intake.

Others may allow you to visit a campus in person during a designated late registration period if the college still has capacity in certain programmes.

Walk-in opportunities are often first-come, first-served, so arriving early on the day of registration improves your chance of securing a space.

What Programmes Typically Have Space for Late Entry?

Late application spaces are more common in programmes that are less competitive or have higher capacity.

These often include:

  1. National Certificate Vocational (NCV) programmes such as engineering, business, hospitality, and information technology.
  2. NATED (Report 191) programmes like electrical engineering, transport and logistics, and office administration.
  3. Occupational trades and skills programmes, if space remains after the main intake.

High-demand courses can fill up quickly, so late spaces may be limited.

What Are the Deadlines for Late Applications in 2026?

There is no single national late deadline for TVET colleges in South Africa.

Each college sets its own closing date based on available space and administrative capacity.

Many colleges run their late application windows in January 2026 and sometimes into early February 2026, as long as space is still available.

This means you must confirm the specific closing date with the college you want to attend.

What Should You Do If Your Chosen College Has No Space?

If a TVET college has no space for late applications, you can:

  1. Apply to another TVET college where spaces remain. The list above is a good starting point.
  2. Use the Central Application Service (CAS) to find available study opportunities across colleges and universities.

Consider online short courses or skills programmes that may still be open throughout the year.
