Makhado Local Municipality in Limpopo recruits unemployed local graduates and TVET learners into workplace placements paid for by the Local Government SETA (LGSETA). The municipality describes the programme as a “graduates placement programme / Work Integrated Learners” meant to prepare unemployed youth for employment through work experience. Its latest call, Notice 87/2026, was published on 24 August 2026 and closed on 31 August 2026. The municipality has not said when it will advertise again.

A year for graduates, two years for N4 to N6 learners

The notice combined two groups with different placement lengths, both at Makhado Local Municipality:

  • University graduates with a degree, honours degree or diploma are placed as interns for 12 months.
  • TVET college learners who have completed N4 to N6 are placed for 24 months of work-integrated learning. For them, the municipality says the placement is an opportunity to acquire relevant work experience or “to be issued with their diploma”.

Neither track is a job offer. The notice states that the programme “is not a permanent offer of employment”. It does not state a monthly stipend amount.

Earlier rounds and where new ones appear

Makhado has run graduate and WIL calls before. Its archive of past vacancies lists a “Graduates and Work Integrated Learning” advert that closed on 25 April 2023 and a SALGA-backed graduate WIL advert that closed on 25 June 2024, before the LGSETA-funded call of August 2026. The dates vary from year to year, so new calls are best watched for on the municipality’s advertised vacancies page, as the separate Internships page read “No Internships Currently” on 29 September 2026.

The funder’s other programmes are listed on our LGSETA provider page. Graduates who want to widen their search can use our government internships page, and Vhembe matriculants still planning their studies can look at the Vhembe District Municipality mayoral bursary.
