PPS is the mutual financial services company for graduate professionals: doctors, engineers, accountants, lawyers and others with a four-year degree. The PPS Foundation, established in 2016, is its social investment arm and funds university students in the professions PPS serves, with a focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

About the PPS Foundation Bursary

The bursary funds full-time study at public South African universities from first year to Honours and covers:

  • Tuition fees.
  • Prescribed textbooks.
  • Meals and accommodation in university residence.
  • Study skills sessions, tutoring, networking events and career services through the Foundation’s support programme.

Fields are science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and selected professional and humanities programmes that lead to a four-year professional qualification.

PPS Foundation Bursary eligibility requirements

  • South African citizen.
  • In Matric, or have completed Matric.
  • Enrolled, or accepted, full-time at a public South African university.
  • An overall average of at least 65%.
  • Household income of no more than R1 million a year in the 2026 round; earlier rounds used R600 000. Preference goes to students with the greatest need.
  • Preferably studying a STEM qualification.

How to apply for the PPS Foundation Bursary

  1. When the call opens, go to the bursary page at pps.co.za/foundation and follow the link to the application portal.
  2. Create a profile and complete the online application.
  3. Upload certified copies of: your ID; your Matric certificate or latest results; your academic records and proof of registration; the university’s financial statement; an invoice for prescribed books; proof of household income; and a lease agreement if you rent accommodation.
  4. Submit before the closing date. Shortlisted students must upload final transcripts in January before outcomes are confirmed.
