Prescient Graduate Programme in Cape Town

Prescient, the South African investment group whose businesses include Prescient Investment Management, Prescient Securities and Prescient Fund Services, runs a rotational graduate programme for students finishing quantitative and finance degrees. Applications normally open once a year in August and stay open for that month. On 27 September 2026 the Prescient graduate programme page said applications were closed, and Prescient has not published a specific date for the next window.

Separately from the annual intake, Prescient also advertises individual graduate-level posts on its vacancies page during the year. Several were open in late September 2026 and are described further down.

Rotations through three Cape Town businesses

Graduates on the programme rotate through Prescient’s business units: investment management, stockbroking and fund administration services. Every rotation is in Cape Town, so there is no option to be placed in Johannesburg. The graduate programme page links to the group’s offices at Westlake Business Park in the southern suburbs.

Prescient does not publish the length of the programme, the number of rotations, the salary or the number of graduates it takes each year. It does say it supports employees with financial sponsorship for further studies that fit their role.

The degrees Prescient recruits from

The programme is open to final-year undergraduate, Honours and Master’s students completing one of these fields:

• Investment Management
• Economics
• Statistical Sciences
• Actuarial Science
• Mathematics and Applied Mathematics
• Computational Finance and Financial Risk Management
• Business Science

Prescient wants an excellent record of academic and personal achievement, leadership ability and a clear interest in a career in financial markets. It describes the people it hires as performance-driven, individually accountable, technically strong and curious.

The August application window

When the window opens, an Apply Now button appears on the graduate programme page. Applicants send a CV together with academic certificates and transcripts. Prescient does not offer vacation work, but students can submit a CV to Prescient’s recruitment system to be told about openings. Graduate vacancies open outside the programme

Prescient’s careers page listed three South African entry-level posts on 27 September 2026, none with a published closing date. Each is applied for through its own form, which asks for a CV and academic transcript.

The Settlements Officer works on trade matching and settlement across equities, bonds, unit trusts, derivatives and foreign exchange. The Securities analyst post combines JSE settlements with dashboards and automation in tools such as Power BI, SQL and Python, and progress towards JSE or RPE exams counts in an applicant’s favour. A fourth graduate post, Graduate Fund Accountant, is with Prescient Fund Services in Ireland.
