For many, receiving their Matric results via SMS offers a quick and accessible way to find out how they performed.

This method eliminates the need for a computer or internet access, making it ideal for those on the go or with limited resources.

Here is how to receive matric results via SMS.

How To Receive Matric Results via SMS

There are two main ways to register to receive your Matric results via SMS: by Sending an SMS and by using a USSD Code.

Both methods require you to have your examination number readily available. This unique number identifies you within the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations.

You can find your examination number on your school registration slip or previous exam results.

Using the SMS to receive your results is the most straightforward method. This is the process you need to follow:

  1. Open your phone’s messaging app and create a new SMS.
  2. In the recipient field, enter the designated number: 45856 (Please note that this number might change. If it does, the Department of Basic Education will confirm the exact number closer to the release date of the Matric results).
  3. In the message body, type your examination number.
  4. Double-check the number for accuracy, as any mistakes will prevent you from receiving your results.
  5. Send the SMS.

You should receive a confirmation SMS once your registration is successful.

This service is not free. Expect a charge of R1.50 per SMS, and standard free SMS bundles won’t apply.

Upon successful registration, your Matric results will be sent directly to your phone via SMS as soon as they are released by the DBE.
