1. When does the SANZAF bursary close for 2027? +
Each SANZAF region sets its own window. For 2026, Durban opened on 1 August and closed on 30 September 2025, and East London ran from 1 October 2025 to 9 January 2026. Check your region on sanzaf.org.za for 2027 dates.
2. What is SANZAF? +
The South African National Zakah Fund, a Muslim welfare organisation that distributes zakah, including through education bursaries.
3. Who qualifies? +
Students in need who qualify to receive zakah under SANZAF's criteria, studying at recognised institutions, applying in the region where they live.
4. What does it cover? +
Payments go directly to the institution's account. Students must pay their own registration fees.
5. What documents are needed? +
