The Sasha Laurel Bursary was launched in June 2021 as a partnership between the Sasha Laurel brand and the Regenesys Foundation, the non-profit arm of Regenesys Business School in Sandton. It offered heavily discounted places on Regenesys programmes: students paid R500 a month and the bursary covered the balance of tuition, with registration, textbook and ICT fees waived. The organisers described it as a R1 billion fund for up to 1 000 students.

About the Sasha Laurel Bursary

The bursary covered tuition on Regenesys Business School programmes, by contact or online learning, at these levels:

Certificates and higher certificates.
Bachelor’s degrees.
Postgraduate diplomas and the MBA.

Fields were business management, project management, human resources, public management and accounting. Students contributed R500 a month for the duration of the programme.

South African citizen.
Matric with a bachelor’s or certificate pass, or another NQF level 4 qualification; or over 23 years old with Grade 11 and relevant short courses.
An income of at least R3 000 a month, either your own or from a family member willing to support the R500 monthly contribution.
Interest in studying business, accounting or public management.

Sasha Laurel Bursary application process

Applicants downloaded an application pack containing a contract, application form, admission form and declaration, completed all four, and emailed them with certified copies of their ID or passport, Matric certificate, CV, recent payslips and bank statements to enquiries@sashalaurel.net, with the subject line “Your Full Name – Bursary Application”.

Other ways to fund a business qualification in 2027

Regenesys and other private institutions offer their own bursaries and instalment plans, but check accreditation first. For public universities, NSFAS funds BCom and public management degrees for students from households earning under R350 000, and the funders on our commerce bursaries list cover the missing middle.
