SASMT Teacher Bursary South Africa 2025

The SASMT holds the distinction of being the oldest professional music society in Southern Africa.

With a rich history spanning almost a century, the SASMT champions the interests of music teachers across diverse educational settings, including schools, private practices, music centers, colleges, and universities.

The SASMT offers a range of bursary programs not only for aspiring music teachers but also for those pursuing specific instruments or vocal studies.

These bursaries aim to empower music educators and nurture the future of music education in South Africa.

About the SASMT Teacher Bursary

Specifically designed for existing SASMT members with a minimum of two years’ membership, the SASMT Teacher Bursary provides financial support for music teachers enrolled in, or intending to enroll in, a music qualification at a recognized and accredited South African tertiary institution.

By investing in the ongoing education of dedicated music educators, the SASMT Teacher Bursary fosters professional development and ultimately enriches the music education landscape in South Africa.

It’s important to note that successful applicants of the SASMT Teacher Bursary will be required to perform at the next SASMT Annual General Meeting.
