Spirit Education Foundation Trust Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the SEF High School Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be currently enrolled in Grade 6 (as of 2023)
  2. Have achieved a minimum of Code 6 in your Grade 6 Term 1 report for English (Home Language), Mathematics, and Natural Sciences
  3. Come from a household with a gross monthly income of no more than R20 000 (before deductions)
  4. Be planning to enroll in Grade 8 in 2025
  5. Intend to attend one of the following partner high schools: Bergvliet High School, Cape Academy of Mathematics, Science and Technology, Claremont High School, Groote Schuur High School, Pinelands High School, South Peninsula High School, Westerford High School, Wynberg Boys’ High School, Wynberg Girls’ High School, or Zwaanswyk High School
  6. Reside within the Western Cape

Spirit Education Foundation Trust Scholarship Application Requirements

Applications can be submitted online or downloaded and completed manually. These are the required documents:

  1. Birth certificate, passport, or study permit (certified copy)
  2. Parents’/guardians’ ID documents, passport, or permit (certified copy)
  3. Grade 6 Term 2/3 report card (certified copy)
  4. Proof of residence (certified copy)
  5. Parents’/guardians’ proof of household income (latest payslips, affidavit if unemployed, pension advice slip, or proof of SASSA grant, certified copies)
  6. Application essay (500 words maximum) answering the question: “If you were given R1 million, what would you do with the money and why?”
