Public TVET colleges take applications for the 2027 academic year through their own websites, and each college sets its own opening and closing dates. There is no single national application form for TVET colleges, so you apply to each college you are interested in.

Before you start
- Decide on a programme type: the NC(V), an occupational qualification or a skills programme. NATED N1 to N3 no longer take new students.
- Check the entry requirement for that programme at the college, since it is set per programme.
- Scan your ID, latest results and proof of address so they are ready to upload.
- Use your own cellphone number and email address, because offers and registration dates are sent there.
How online applications usually work
- Open the college’s official website and find the online application link.
- Create a profile or account with your ID number.
- Choose a campus and up to the number of programmes the form allows.
- Upload your documents.
- Submit and save the reference number the system gives you.
- Watch for an SMS or email about placement tests, an offer or registration.
| After you apply | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pending or received | The college has your application and has not decided yet |
| Provisionally accepted | You have a place if you meet the remaining conditions, such as final results |
| Accepted | Register on the date the college gives you |
| Unsuccessful or waiting list | Apply for another programme or campus, or to another college |
Funding comes separately
A college place and NSFAS funding are two applications. NSFAS runs its own window for 2027, open from 18 September to 31 October 2026, and only funds you once you are registered at a public college. See how to apply for NSFAS as a TVET student.
Find your college in the directory of all 50 public TVET colleges, and read what a pending application means if you are waiting for an answer.
If you miss a college’s closing date, contact other public colleges that still have space. The Department of Higher Education and Training suspended its Central Application Clearing House (CACH) from 2026 and named a Central Application Service as the replacement, but in September 2026 the CAS website said the project is under review.
Frequently asked questions
Is there one application form for all TVET colleges?
No. Each public TVET college runs its own application process, so you apply to each college separately.
Can I apply to more than one TVET college for 2027?
Yes. Applying to more than one college gives you a better chance of a place in a popular programme.
Do TVET college applications cost money?
Many public colleges accept online applications free of charge, but some charge a small fee. Check the college’s own website.
