The Signa Bursary is offered by the Signa Trust, a non-profit organization established by the Signa Group.
Signa Group is a level 2 B-BBEE company dedicated to promoting Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment through consulting services and solutions.
The Signa Trust shares the commitment to social upliftment by focusing specifically on creating a legacy for black female students through bursary programs.
About Signa Bursary
The Signa Bursary is a full sponsorship program designed to empower young South African women to pursue ICT careers.
The program recognizes the potential within the ICT sector and aims to bridge the gender gap in this field.
The bursary covers a wide range of expenses for a three-year ICT degree:
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed books
- Personal computer
- Accommodation
- Monthly stipend
Signa Bursary Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Signa Bursary, you must meet the following criteria:
- South African Citizen or Legal Resident: You must be a South African citizen or hold legal residency in South Africa.
- The bursary is exclusively for female applicants.
- You must be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of application.
- You must have completed your Matriculation (National Senior Certificate) with good results (above average).
- You must be from a disadvantaged background.
- You must be passionate about pursuing an ICT degree program.
- You cannot be associated with the Signa Group or Signa Trust in any way.
Signa Bursary Application Requirements
Applications for the Signa Bursary are submitted online.
In addition to the online application, you will be required to submit a motivational letter.
This letter should clearly explain why you deserve the bursary and outline your future plans and aspirations within the ICT field.
Once shortlisted, successful candidates must submit the following certified copies of documentation:
- ID Document: Both sides of your South African ID card.
- Proof of Residency: If you are not a South African citizen, submit your passport and proof of residency permit.
- Matric Certificate: A certified copy of your Matriculation certificate.
- Academic Record: Your most recent academic record or results from your 2020 studies.
- Financial Documents: Proof of your total household income. This could include parents’/guardians’ latest payslips, affidavits if unemployed, proof of pension or Sassa grants (if applicable).
- Disability Proof (if applicable): If you have a disability, submit a document confirming your disability status.
