Before students can register for the 2027 academic year, they must meet financial clearance requirements set by the university

This means paying specified costs early in the registration process to secure a place, clear on the student fee system, and access modules.

University of Mpumalanga Application Fee 2027 (Non‑refundable)

To apply for study at UMP, all applicants must pay a non‑refundable application fee when submitting their application.

Application fees do not secure registration but are required for processing your application.

Typical fees based on the most recent UMP guidance are:

  • South African citizens: around R150 – R200
  • SADC citizens: around R150 – R400
  • International applicants: around R350 – R550

These amounts are non‑refundable and must be paid before your application will be processed.

Applicants should pay the application fee and upload proof of payment with their application to avoid processing delays.

University of Mpumalanga Registration Fee 2027 (Initial Payment)

When an applicant receives an offer of admission at UMP, the next step is to pay an initial registration deposit as part of the financial clearance before registration can be completed.

This amount is sometimes referred to as a minimum initial payment and is typically credited to the student’s total tuition account once registration is finalised.

Main Registration Deposit (Tuition)

Based on the latest UMP fee information and expected 2027 figure projections:

  • Tuition registration deposit: Approximately R4 100 for most degrees and diplomas.
  • Special programme exception: Some specific diploma programmes, such as third‑year Diploma in Agriculture in Plant Production, may require a lower deposit (e.g., around R1 444).

These fees are paid at the time of registration and are deducted from your total tuition obligations.

Residence/Accommodation Deposit (If Applicable)

If you have applied for and are offered on‑campus accommodation, there is usually an additional deposit required to secure the residence place:

  • Accommodation initial deposit: Approximately R2 445 (self‑catering on‑campus).

This amount is separate from the tuition deposit and may also be deducted from your overall accommodation fees once your place is confirmed.

What Registration Costs Cover

The registration deposit at UMP is an upfront amount required before you can finalise your registration online or in person.

It typically covers:

  • A portion of your tuition fees for the academic year
  • Helps to secure your place in your programme
  • May be necessary before you receive full access to modules on the student system

Students who do not pay the required initial amount by official deadlines may not be allowed to complete the registration process.

How to Pay Your UMP Registration Fees

UMP accepts secure payment methods for registration deposits, including electronic funds transfer (EFT) and bank deposits.

Payments should always include your student number as the reference so that the university can allocate the funds correctly.

Official Bank Details:

  • Bank: Standard Bank
  • Account Name: University of Mpumalanga – Student Account
  • Account Number: 032610688
  • Branch Code: 052852
  • SWIFT Code (for international payments): SBZAZAJJ
  • Reference: Your student number

Upload proof of payment where required in the registration system or present it to the UMP Finance Office as instructed.

Allow at least 48 hours for payments to reflect and clear before registration dates.

Registration for First‑Time and Returning Students

According to UMP’s official registration page, the university opens online registration early in the year.

Students who have paid their minimum initial payment and have been financially cleared are able to register online at the appropriate time.

Students who do not meet these financial requirements may be blocked from completing registration until payments are confirmed.

NSFAS and Registration Costs

If you qualify for funding from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) and your NSFAS award is confirmed before the registration period, NSFAS can cover your registration deposit and tuition fees directly with the university.

Students should submit their NSFAS award confirmation to the UMP Financial Aid Office before registration opens.

They must also confirm with NSFAS and UMP that the funding covers both the initial deposit and tuition for the qualification.

This ensures that you do not need to pay the initial deposit yourself if funding is approved in time.
