University of Limpopo Fees 2027: Tuition and Payments

If you plan to study at the University of Limpopo (UL) in 2027, you must understand the financial requirements for applying and registering. 

UL requires a non-refundable application fee, a registration or upfront payment toward your fees before registration, and tuition fees that vary by programme and faculty. 

Payments must be made by specific deadlines so that you can complete your registration and proceed with classes.

University of Limpopo Application Fee 2027 (Non-refundable)

To apply to study at UL, all applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee before submitting their application through the official University of Limpopo Application Portal.

• South African applicants: R200 application fee
• International applicants: R750 application fee

This application fee covers the cost of processing your application and must be paid before the application can be processed. 

Proof of payment should be attached to your application form when submitting it online.

The application fee is not paid into the student-fees account. UL’s 2027 application notice lists a separate Standard Bank account for it (account number 030131405, branch code 051001 for electronic payments), and you use your ID, passport or student number as the reference. If you are applying from outside South Africa, your passport number is the reference to use.

University of Limpopo Registration Fee 2027 (Initial Payment)

After you receive an offer of study, UL requires a minimum upfront payment before registration can be completed. 

This upfront payment is an advance on your tuition and residence fees, and it is credited to your student fee account. UL’s fee guide asks for it to be paid at least six days before your scheduled registration date, because ordinary transfers can take up to 48 hours or longer to reflect.

In the 2026 Student Fee Guide, self-funded South African and SADC students paid R5 000 before registration: R3 000 toward tuition and R2 000 toward residence. International students from outside SADC paid R8 000, and other international students R11 000. The 2027 amounts will be confirmed in the next fee guide. 

If the modules you register for cost less than the advance payment, the guide says you pay the full module cost plus the administration fees and other charges instead.

The residence portion (R2 000 in 2026) is already part of that advance payment, so there is no separate residence deposit listed in the fee guide. Fully sponsored students with verified sponsorship are exempt from the advance payment, provided all previous years’ debt has been settled.

If you have outstanding debt from previous years, UL will block your registration until all previous balances are settled.

University of Limpopo Tuition Fee Structure per Faculty

UL does not publish a single flat tuition fee for all students.

Instead, the amount you pay depends on your programme, faculty, and the number of modules you register for in the academic year.

Typical faculties and programmes include:

1. Faculty of Health Sciences
2. Faculty of Humanities
3. Faculty of Science and Agriculture
4. Faculty of Management and Law

Tuition fees are structured based on your qualification and the credits or modules you enrol in.

Exact tuition amounts for 2027 are set annually by the university’s council and will be announced in the official UL Fees Guide once published. 

Students can request detailed fee information from the Student Fees Office or check the official fees page once the 2027 fees booklet is released.

How to Pay Your University of Limpopo Fees (Bank Details)

Registration, tuition and residence payments go into the student-fees account below (the application fee has its own account, covered above). 

The fee guide says your student number must be the only reference on fee payments. Payments without a valid student number cannot be allocated until you send proof of payment to studentfeesqueries@ul.ac.za.

Make sure that your payment reflects on your student account several days before registration deadlines to avoid holds on your registration. 

UL warns that EFTs and direct deposits can take up to four business days to reach its bank account, and international transfers more than five.

University of Limpopo Fees for NSFAS Funded Students

If you are funded by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), NSFAS will pay your tuition and registration fees directly to UL once your funding is approved before the registration deadlines. 

This means that you may not have to pay the initial upfront payment yourself if NSFAS funding is finalised in time.

To benefit from NSFAS funding:

1. Ensure your funding application is submitted and approved early.
2. Submit the NSFAS confirmation letter or approved status to the Student Finance Office before registration.
3. Provide any additional documentation requested by the university to verify your funding status.

If NSFAS funding is not confirmed in time, you may be required to pay the minimum registration payment yourself to complete your registration on time.
