Once an application is submitted and payment is confirmed, applicants can use the CAO status tracker to view updates about their application.
Tracking your application helps you know whether your documents have been received, whether a decision has been made, or whether you have been offered admission.
You will need your CAO reference number or South African ID number to check your application status online.
Official admission outcomes may also be communicated via email or SMS once the University finalises its decision.
How to Check Your UNIZULU Application Status
You can view your application status for UNIZULU through the Central Applications Office (CAO) Status Checker.
Follow the steps below to track your 2027 application.
- Open the CAO Portal
- Click on “Check my Application” or “MyApplicationLogin” on the CAO homepage.
- On the status login page, enter your CAO reference number in the required field.
- Alternatively, you can enter your South African ID number or passport number if you do not have the CAO number.
- Fill in your surname exactly as it appears on your application (if required).
- Click Submit to view your application status.
Once logged in, the CAO system will display the latest update on your application including whether it is under review, conditionally offered, or fully accepted.
If your application appears as “not found”, ensure you entered your details correctly or check back after a few days as it may take time for the CAO database to update after submission.
What Your Status Means
The CAO tracking system may show several different messages for your UNIZULU application.
Understanding these messages helps you know whether action is required from you.
- Waiting for a decision
This means the University of Zululand has received your application and it is currently under review. Usually no action is required from you at this stage.
- Conditional offer
This status indicates that UNIZULU intends to offer you a place if certain conditions are met.
Conditions may include submission of final Grade 12 results or additional documents.
- Firm offer
This status confirms that you have been successfully offered a place in your chosen programme at UNIZULU.
- Regret / Unsuccessful
This means that the University could not offer you admission for the programme.
This outcome may be due to space limitations or unmet entry requirements.
When an offer is made, UNIZULU may also send an official SMS notification and a registration package via email.
Troubleshooting Common Login Issues
Some applicants experience problems when trying to check their application status online.
Most issues are caused by incorrect login details or system delays.
Incorrect CAO reference or ID number
Ensure the CAO number or ID number you enter is exactly the same as on your application confirmation.
Any typos may prevent the portal from finding your record.
Application not yet in system
It can take a few days after submission for your application to appear in the CAO tracking database.
If the status page shows no results, check again later.
Portal slow or not loading
High web traffic during peak application periods may slow the CAO website.
Try refreshing the page or checking at a quieter time.
Mismatched surname
If you enter your surname incorrectly or in a different format from the application, the portal may not match your record.
Re‑enter it exactly as it was on the CAO application.
Still cannot find your status
If login attempts continue to fail or you cannot find your application result, contact the CAO Call Centre.
