Check WSU Application Status 2027: Status Check Online

Walter Sisulu University provides an official online service that allows applicants to track the progress of their application.

Check Your Personalized Bursary Options

Step 1: Choose Study Level

Step 2: Choose Field of Study

Step 3: Describe Your Interest

Tell us if you want bursaries, scholarships, admissions, or student loans?

Through the university’s online systems, you can see if your application has been received, is being reviewed, or has an admission decision.

Admission status updates may also be communicated through email or SMS.

Tracking your status helps you take action if the admissions office requires additional documents or if an offer becomes available.

Applications for the 2027 academic year usually open early in the year and run until official closing dates in September or October depending on whether you are a local or international applicant.

How to Check Your WSU Application Status

WSU allows applicants to view the progress of their application using the official student portal and status check systems.

Follow the steps below to check your application status online:

  1. Open the WSU Application Status Portal.
  2. On the status page or portal login screen, select the option for application status or track application if available.
  3. Enter your WSU student number or application reference number exactly as shown in your application confirmation email.
  4. Enter your PIN or password created during the application process.
  5. Click Submit or Login to view your application status.

If you have not yet created a portal account, use the activation email sent by WSU after your application was submitted to set up login credentials.

Once logged in, you will see the most recent admission update such as whether your application is under review, provisionally accepted, or declined.

What Your Status Means

When you check your WSU application status, the portal may display different updates that show what stage your application is in.

  1. Application Received
This means WSU has successfully captured your application in the system. Your documents and details are ready for evaluation.
  2. Under Review
This status shows that the admissions office is assessing your academic results and supporting documents.
  3. Awaiting Documents
This means that some required documents are missing, unclear, or need verification. You should submit the required materials promptly.
  4. Provisionally Accepted
This indicates that you have met the minimum requirements but certain conditions remain, such as final Grade 12 results or outstanding certificates.
  5. Admitted
This status confirms that you have been fully accepted into a programme at WSU. The portal may also provide instructions about acceptance, registration, and orientation.
  6. Unsuccessful
This means the application was not successful due to unmet requirements or lack of space in the programme.

In addition to the online portal, WSU may send official email notifications when a decision is made regarding your application.

Troubleshooting Common Login Issues

Applicants may experience problems when trying to access the status check system.

Most issues are related to login details or portal access.

Incorrect student number or reference
Make sure you enter the exact student number or application reference number provided in your confirmation email.

Mistyping this information can prevent the portal from finding your record.

Wrong PIN or password
Your password must match the credentials created when submitting your application.

If your login fails, use the Forgot PIN/Password link on the portal to reset your access.

Account not activated
If you did not activate your portal account after applying, check your email for an activation link from WSU.

You may need to complete this step before you can log in.

Portal not loading or slow response
High traffic during peak admission periods can slow the portal or temporarily block access.

Refreshing the page or checking at a quieter time often helps.

Application not visible yet
It may take some time for your application record to appear in the system after submission, especially soon after applying.

Check again after a few days if your status does not appear immediately.

Need help from admissions
If you still cannot access your status or the portal repeatedly fails to display your application, contact the WSU Admissions Office.

Typical contact points include phone numbers and emails listed on the official WSU website.
