The TUT Prospectus 2027 contains vital information on programme options, subject requirements, APS scores, application dates, and funding options.

This guide focuses on engineering and IT qualifications so you can prepare your application with clarity and confidence.

It also explains how to get the prospectus, plan your study pathway, and meet the TUT requirements for the 2027 academic year.

Why You Need the TUT Prospectus 2027

The Stellenbosch University Prospectus 2027 is the official document that lists every programme offered at TUT for the upcoming academic year.

It tells you which qualifications are available in engineering and IT, the entry requirements, subject prerequisites, and how applications are considered.

The prospectus also includes details about student support services, residence options, fees, and bursaries.

Reading this document before you apply gives you a clear picture of what is expected and what you need to prepare in Grade 12, or if you want to apply with another qualification.

This preparation helps ensure your application is complete and accurate.

How to Download the TUT 2027 Prospectus PDF

TUT publishes its prospectus as a PDF file that you can download from the official website or trusted educational pages.

Once downloaded, open the prospectus and use the table of contents to quickly find the sections about engineering, information technology, and their specific entry requirements.

Reviewing these sections early will help you make informed choices about subjects and APS preparation.

Admission Requirements for 2027

To apply for undergraduate study at TUT, you must have a recognised school-leaving qualification such as the National Senior Certificate (NSC) endorsed for bachelor’s degree or diploma study by Umalusi.

You will also need specific subject passes.

For most bachelor’s degrees, you must pass at least four subjects at performance level 4 (50% or higher) and for diplomas at level 3 (40% or higher).

English must be passed at the NSC level and is included in the APS calculation.

For engineering and IT courses, you often need Mathematics (or Technical Mathematics) at a higher achievement level.

Some courses also require Physical Sciences or related technology subjects.

The official prospectus lists these requirements for each qualification so you know exactly what you need before you apply.

Minimum Points Needed for Engineering & IT Programmes

At TUT, minimum Admission Point Score (APS) requirements vary by faculty and programme.

APS is calculated using your top six subjects from the NSC, excluding Life Orientation.

Here are general APS guidelines for engineering and IT fields:

  1. Engineering Diplomas and Degrees: Often require an APS of at least 22 to 26, with strong results in Mathematics or Technical Mathematics and Physical Sciences.
  2. Information Technology Diplomas and Degrees: Usually require an APS of at least 20 to 24, with solid results in Mathematics or Technical Mathematics.

These APS numbers can change slightly based on the programme and intake capacity.

Always check the official prospectus for the exact APS requirement for the specific engineering or IT qualification you want.

Compulsory Subjects

To be eligible for engineering and IT studies at TUT in 2027 you generally need:

  1. A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a bachelor’s degree or diploma endorsement.
  2. English at NSC level with an adequate performance rating (usually level 4 or higher).
  3. Mathematics or Technical Mathematics at a strong level for engineering and IT.
  4. Physical Sciences or a related subject for most engineering qualifications.

Some IT qualifications may accept Mathematical Literacy, but stronger Mathematics results will improve your chances of admission and success.

The official prospectus lists compulsory subjects for each qualification so check that section carefully.

How to Calculate Your 2027 APS

Your Admission Point Score (APS) is the total of your top six subject performance levels on the NSC, excluding Life Orientation.

Each subject is assigned a score from 1 to 7 based on your final mark:

  1. Level 7: 7 points
  2. Level 6: 6 points
  3. Level 5: 5 points
  4. Level 4: 4 points
  5. Level 3: 3 points
  6. Level 2: 2 points
  7. Level 1: 1 point

Add the points for your top six subjects, making sure English, Mathematics, and any required subjects are included.

This total is your APS score. For a detailed example and a step-by-step APS calculator, refer to the full TUT APS Calculator article for Tshwane University of Technology.

2027 Application Opening and Closing Dates

The application period for TUT’s 2027 intake generally opens early in the year and closes later in the year before the academic session begins.

For the 2026-2027 cycle, TUT’s closing date for most undergraduate applications was 30 September, with some programmes closing earlier.

For 2027, the university is expected to follow a similar timeline. Submit your application before the closing date to ensure that it is considered.

Check the official TUT website regularly for the exact dates once they are published.

Funding & Bursaries

TUT offers several funding options for students, including bursaries, scholarships, and loans.

Many students in engineering and IT apply for financial support through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

Other bursaries may be offered by industry partners, corporate sponsors, and professional bodies related to technology and engineering fields.

Funding information and eligibility criteria are listed in the prospectus and on TUT’s financial aid pages so you can prepare your applications alongside your university application.
