MUT Registration Fee 2027 (Initial Payment)

Once accepted, you must pay a Minimum Initial Payment (MIP) before you can complete registration for the 2027 academic year. 

The MIP includes a deposit toward your tuition account and compulsory levies such as the Student Representative Council (SRC) levy, sports levy and insurance levy.

Option 2: Tuition + Internal Residence

• Tuition Fee Deposit: R3 450 annual / R2 000 semester
• Internal Residence Deposit: R14 025 annual / R6 615 semester
• Student Levy: R430 annual / R215 semester
• Sport Levy: R120 annual / R60 semester
• Total Minimum Payable on Registration: R18 025 annual / R8 890 semester

Option 3: Tuition + External Residence or New Internal Residence

• Tuition Fee Deposit: R3 450 annual / R2 000 semester
• External Residence Deposit: R24 950 annual / R11 770 semester
• Student Levy: R430 annual / R215 semester
• Sport Levy: R120 annual / R60 semester
• Total Minimum Payable on Registration: R28 950 annual / R14 045 semester

MUT Tuition Fee Structure

MUT’s tuition fees vary by programme, modules taken and level of study. 

Tuition figures are typically quoted per semester and are influenced by the subjects or modules you choose.

• Tuition fees range between approximately R4 530 and R15 350 per semester depending on the course and subjects taken.

These fees cover your academic tuition but do not include residence fees, travel, meals, textbooks or other personal costs. 

Residence fees are additional and can range from around R4 120 to R11 150 per semester depending on the type of room you choose.

MUT Fees for NSFAS Funded Students

If you qualify for funding through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), you must ensure your NSFAS award is approved before registration. 

Once confirmed, NSFAS will typically cover your tuition fees and the minimum initial payment directly to the university.
