The University of Fort Hare (UFH) adds up points for all seven of your NSC subjects, including Life Orientation, on an 8-point scale. Life Orientation counts, but it can add at most 4 points. The minimums for 2027 entry come from UFH’s 2027 Study Guide, and the scoring rules from its 2026 General Prospectus, the latest edition.

How to calculate your UFH APS
- Take your final (or Grade 11 or mid-year Grade 12) percentage for each of your seven NSC subjects.
- Turn each percentage into points with the table below. Anything under 30% scores 0.
- For Life Orientation, use a maximum of 4 points even if your mark is higher.
- Add all seven subjects together. That total is your UFH APS.
UFH APS table
| NSC mark | APS points |
|---|---|
| 90–100% | 8 |
| 80–89% | 7 |
| 70–79% | 6 |
| 60–69% | 5 |
| 50–59% | 4 |
| 40–49% | 3 |
| 30–39% | 2 |
| 0–29% | 0 |
UFH’s online APS calculator on its application page uses a 7-point version of this table and does not cap Life Orientation. The prospectus is the formal rule, so check your score against it.
