UWC NBT Requirements 2027: Law and Science Rules

The University of the Western Cape (UWC) is one of South Africa’s public universities.

3. This process may apply to any faculty, including Law (Faculty of Law) and Natural Science,s when necessary. Decisions on NBT use are made by faculty selection committees.

Comparison Between NBT Scores and APS Scores

At UWC, the Admission Points Score (APS) is the primary academic measure used for undergraduate selection. APS is calculated from NSC results using a weighted points system.

The university allocates more points for English and Mathematics relative to other subjects.

Applicants typically need a minimum NSC Level or UWC points score as determined by the faculty for a specific programme. 

A higher APS usually improves the chance of admission.

In contrast, NBT scores are not part of the APS calculation at UWC.

Remember that NBT results remain valid for multiple application cycles, so you only need to write the test once for multiple university applications if any require it.
