VerifiedVaal University of Technology (VUT) works out your APS from a maximum of six subjects and leaves out Life Orientation for every programme. The minimums below come from VUT’s 2027 Undergraduate Minimum Admission Requirements.

How to calculate your VUT APS
- Convert each subject mark into points with the table below.
- Leave out Life Orientation.
- Add up to six subjects, making sure the subjects your programme requires are included.

VUT’s document starts its table at level 3. It mentions level 2 (30%) only for Mathematics in the Fashion and Art diplomas and does not publish a value below 30%.
General requirements
- Diplomas need an NSC with the diploma endorsement; degrees need the bachelor’s endorsement.
- Most programmes need English at level 4. Exceptions: Non-Destructive Testing and the extended engineering diplomas accept English 3; Legal Assistance, Labour Law and the Bachelor of Communication Studies need English 5.

Engineering diplomas list Mathematics, not Maths Literacy. Technical Mathematics appears only in VUT’s NC(V) Level 4 table.
Applying for 2027
The application fee is R110. VUT’s own sources give different closing dates: its 2027 requirements document and website banner say 30 September 2026 for academic applications, while a Registrar’s notice gives 30 October 2026 for national applicants. Apply by 30 September to be safe. B Ed, Safety Management, Labour Law, IT, Logistics, Agricultural Management, Policing, Legal Assistance and Human Resources closed early, on 31 July 2026.
