African Marine Solutions runs tugs, offshore support vessels and emergency towing services around the South African coast, and it needs marine engineers and navigating officers to crew them. Its bursary funds the three qualifications that lead to those tickets, and it is one of the few routes into a seagoing career for students without family money.

About the AMSOL Bursary

  • Qualifications: the Bachelor of Marine Engineering, the Bachelor of Nautical Science, and the Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (deck officer) qualification.

  1. Prepare your Grade 11 final report and Matric results, your Matric certificate if completed, recent academic transcripts, proof of registration at your institution for 2027, a CV with references and a motivation letter.
  2. Email everything to careers@amsol.co.za with the subject line “Attention: 2027 Bursary Committee”.
  3. Submit before 30 September 2026. Only shortlisted applicants are contacted.
