Bell has closed its bursary on 20 October in recent rounds, most recently the widely published 2024 round on 20 October 2023.

Bell Equipment is the South African manufacturer of articulated dump trucks and heavy equipment for mining, construction, forestry and agriculture, headquartered and built in Richards Bay and sold worldwide. Through the Bell Equipment Foundation Trust it funds engineering, computer science and IT students from second year, with paid vacation work at the factory and a route into the company’s graduate engineering roles.

About the Bell Equipment Bursary

  • Fields: BSc computer science, BEng or BSc electrical engineering, BEng or BSc electronics engineering, and BSc or BCom information technology, with mechanical and industrial engineering in some rounds.
  • Covers study costs for the year, renewable on performance.
  • Includes at least eight weeks of paid vacation work a year at Bell, where required.
  • Bursars may be required to work for Bell after graduating for a period equal to the funding received.

  • Entering the second year of full-time study in a listed field at an accredited South African institution.
  • At least a 65% overall average in the current academic year.
  • No other bursary funding, apart from institutional academic merit awards.
  • Passionate about design and innovation, energetic and highly motivated.

How to apply for the Bell Equipment Bursary

  1. Email bursaries@bellequipment.com to confirm the round is open and request the application form.
  2. Attach a certified ID, your recent academic results, your parents’ or guardians’ certified IDs if you are under 18, proof of their income (payslips, an affidavit or pension slips) and a motivation letter.
  3. Email the application, or post it to the Group Training and Development Coordinator, Bell Equipment Company, Private Bag X20046, Empangeni, 3880, before the closing date.
