Boston Media House, the Sandton media college, and YFM, Gauteng’s youth radio station, have partnered on a scholarship competition that sends a young radio or music talent to study at Boston Media House for free. Entrants submit a demo rather than a form, and the winners are announced on air. This page records the last published competition and where to look for the next one.
About the Boston Media House and YFM Scholarship
- Diploma scholarship: the three-year Diploma in Media Practices at Boston Media House, Sandton, worth R180 000.
- Soul Candi scholarship: the Soul Candi digital music composition and production short course, worth R30 000.
- Not covered: registration and external fees, travel, stationery and existing student debt.
Boston and YFM Scholarship eligibility requirements
- Completed Matric in the previous year with a strong academic record.
- Intending to study media or music at Boston Media House in Sandton in the competition year.
- Not a director, employee or immediate family member of YFM or Boston Media House.
- Parental consent if under 18.
How to enter the Boston and YFM Scholarship
- Watch yfm.co.za and Boston Media House’s channels for the competition announcement.
- Record a short radio demo (diploma scholarship) or a music mix (Soul Candi scholarship) and upload it to Google Drive or WeTransfer.
- Complete the online entry form with your Matric certificate (PDF or image under 5MB), the link to your recording and a motivation letter.
- YFM producers shortlist the top entrants and a judging panel chooses the winners, announced live on YFM.
