DRDGOLD, formerly Durban Roodepoort Deep, is a JSE-listed surface gold miner, majority owned by Sibanye-Stillwater, that recovers gold from old mine dumps around Johannesburg and on the West Rand. Its bursary funds Gauteng students entering first or second year in the engineering, metallurgy, environmental and business fields its plants need, with vacation work on its operations.

DRDGOLD Bursary eligibility requirements

  • Living in Gauteng, with preference for the City of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Merafong.
  • Entering first or second year of study in a listed field.
  • Strong academic performance in Matric or first year.
  • Studying at a recognised South African university, university of technology or college.

How to apply for the DRDGOLD Bursary

  1. Prepare a certified ID, proof of your Gauteng address and a CV. First-years add certified Matric or final Grade 11 results and a provisional acceptance letter on the institution’s letterhead; second-years add the full first-year academic record on letterhead.
  2. Email the documents to employment.confirmation@drdgold.com with the bursary reference from the advert in the subject line.
  3. Submit before the closing date. Only shortlisted candidates hear back, within about four weeks.
