The Elsenburg Agricultural Training Institute (EATI) is the Western Cape Department of Agriculture’s own college outside Stellenbosch, founded in 1898 and run on a working farm with its own wine cellar. The department funds students to study at Elsenburg through a bursary aimed at previously disadvantaged applicants who want careers in crop, livestock, cellar and extension work.

About the Elsenburg Bursary

The bursary funds study at Elsenburg in:

BAgric degree (three years): plant production, animal production, plant and animal production, cellar technology and management, and extension.
Diploma in Agriculture (three years): plant production, animal production, plant and animal production, and cellar technology.
Equine studies (one year): horse care and stable yard management.

Funding covers tuition and, depending on need, accommodation and other study costs at the institute.

Attach certified copies of your ID, Grade 11 and Matric results, academic records if you are already studying, qualification certificates, proof of registration if available, your parents’ or guardians’ IDs or death certificates, and proof of income (three months’ payslips, an unemployment affidavit or SASSA grant proof).
Post it to Elsenburg Agricultural Training Institute, Private Bag X1, Elsenburg, 7607, or hand-deliver it to Muldersvlei Road, Elsenburg, by 30 September. Emailed and faxed applications are not accepted.
