The HCI Foundation Bursary is a merit-based scholarship program aimed at supporting financially disadvantaged South African students pursuing undergraduate degrees at public universities and universities of technology.

HCI Foundation Bursary Application Form

Applications for the HCI Foundation Bursary are open annually from August 1st to September 30th.

The application process is entirely online through the HCI Foundation website. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Visit the HCI Foundation website.
  2. Click on “Bursaries” and then “Apply Now.”
  3. Carefully read the eligibility criteria and application instructions.
  4. Prepare the required documents, including:
    • Certified copy of your South African ID or refugee/asylum seeker permit
    • Matric certificate and academic transcripts
    • Proof of acceptance or registration at a qualifying institution
    • Proof of family income (not exceeding R38,000 per month)
    • A motivational letter outlining your academic goals and financial needs
  5. Start the online application form and fill in all details accurately.
  6. Upload the required documents in the designated format.
  7. Review your application thoroughly before submitting.
  8. Click “Submit” to complete the process.

Please note that incomplete applications or applications submitted after the closing date will not be considered.

The HCI Foundation Bursary Requirements

To be eligible for the HCI Foundation Bursary, you must meet every single one of the following requirements:

  1. Be a South African citizen or permanent resident, refugee, or asylum seeker.
  2. Be 35 years old or younger on the application closing date (September 30th).
  3. Be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program at a qualifying public university or university of technology in South Africa.
  4. Have a gross family income of less than R38,000 per month.
  5. Demonstrate academic merit and financial need.
  6. Not be currently receiving a full-cost bursary or large partial bursary.

The HCI Foundation Bursary Closing Date

The application deadline for the HCI Foundation Bursary is September 30th of each year.

That means that the application window for the 2024 academic year has already ended.

But there’s no need to worry, you can still apply this year for the next academic year.
