The Hollywood Foundation is the corporate social investment arm of the Hollywoodbets group, and its Future is Bright bursary has become one of the larger private schemes in South Africa. It funds eleven business, technology and design fields, and it is open to school leavers and students already at university or college.

About the Future is Bright Bursary

Fields: architectural design, business management, data science, finance and accounting, graphic design, human resources management, information technology and computer science, marketing, media and communications, project management, and supply chain and logistics management.
Covers full or partial study-related expenses depending on your field and results: registration, tuition, prescribed textbooks, study materials, accommodation and living assistance.
Supplementary exams and unrelated expenses are excluded. Funding is awarded one year at a time, with reapplication each year.

Eligibility requirements

South African citizen, in Matric or with Matric.
An overall average of at least 65% in Matric, and at least 65% per subject.
Studying towards a qualification of 12 months or longer at a DHET-registered tertiary institution.
Not holding a conflicting bursary or an award that binds you to an employer.

How to apply

Open the bursary application on the Hollywood Foundation portal at hollywoodfoundation.co.za. There are separate links for external applicants and for relatives of Hollywood group employees.
Upload a certified ID, Matric certificate, recent academic results, your institution acceptance letter, the qualification details, an itemised pro forma invoice, proof of the institution’s banking details, proof of address and a motivation letter of up to 2 000 words.
Submit before midday on the closing date. Late applications are not accepted.

Closing date

3 September 2026 at 12:00 for the 2027 academic year (closed). Expect early September 2027 for 2028.
