VerifiedThe KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) funds a small number of aeronautical engineering students each year to build the skills the province needs for the Dube TradePort aerotropolis around King Shaka International Airport. The bursary is one of the few in the country dedicated to aeronautical engineering.

KZN EDTEA Bursary eligibility requirements
- South African citizen aged 15 to 34, living in KwaZulu-Natal.
- In Matric or completed Matric, with the Mathematics and Physical Science results Wits or UP require for engineering.
- From a disadvantaged background, preferably rural.
- Accepted or enrolled at Wits or UP for aeronautical engineering.
How to apply for the KZN EDTEA Bursary
- Download the application form from kznedtea.gov.za when the advert appears.
- Attach a certified ID, Grade 11 and Matric results, proof of acceptance if available, an academic record if you are already studying, a one-page motivation letter, proof of KZN residence (a rates statement, police affidavit or letter from the local authority), your parents’ or guardians’ certified IDs, proof of their income and an income and expense statement.
- Post it to the Aeronautical Engineering Bursary Programme, Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Private Bag X9152, Pietermaritzburg, 3200, or hand-deliver it to 270 Jabu Ndlovu Street, Pietermaritzburg, before the closing date.
