The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport Bursary provides financial support for full-time studies at accredited public Higher Learning Institutions within South Africa.

It covers essential expenses like tuition fees, accommodation, meals, and prescribed textbooks, in order to reduce the financial burden for talented students.

In return for this generous support, successful recipients commit to serving the Department of Transport for a period equal to the duration of their bursary upon graduation.

This program focuses on training and preparing future leaders in fields that will help with the efficient and sustainable development of KwaZulu-Natal’s transport sector.

The bursary is currently offered for the following qualifications:

1. Civil Engineering (BSc): 10 bursaries available
2. Geographic Information Systems (BSc): 2 bursaries available
3. Law (BCom): 2 bursaries available
4. Project Management: 3 bursaries available
5. Transport Economics (BCom): 5 bursaries available

Application Form for the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport Bursary

Before you can start the application process, you first need to get your application form.

You can simply download the application form from the department’s website or access it at any Department of Transport office.

Ensure you fill out the form by providing accurate information and attaching all the required documents, including:

1. Certified copies of your Matric/Grade 12 certificate and academic transcripts
2. An acceptance letter or provisional acceptance letter from a public Higher Learning Institution for an approved field of study (listed below)
3. Proof of income from your parents or legal guardian or an affidavit/letter stating unemployment from the Department of Labour
4. Certified copies of your and your parents’ identity documents
5. Letter of motivation explaining your reasons for applying and career aspirations
6. Any other relevant documents specified in the application

To be considered for this life-changing bursary, you must fulfil the following criteria:

1. Be a South African citizen residing in KwaZulu-Natal
2. Possess a Matric/Grade 12 certificate with good academic standing
3. Be between 18 and 35 years old
4. Be currently studying or intend to study in one of the following fields:
   • Civil Engineering (BSc)
   • Geographic Information Systems (BSc)
   • Law (BCom)
   • Project Management
   • Transport Economics (BCom)
5. Demonstrate financial need
6. Show strong academic potential and leadership qualities
