Mossel Bay Municipality on the Garden Route funds young residents from low-income households to study the qualifications the municipality itself needs: engineering, planning, environmental health, finance, IT and administration. The bursary pays fees directly to the institution and is aimed at first-time entrants to tertiary study.
About the Mossel Bay Municipality Bursary
The bursary covers tuition fees, registration fees and prescribed textbooks and study material, paid to the institution. Accommodation, meals and allowances are not covered. Fields of study are:
- Civil, electrical and mechanical engineering.
- Town and regional planning, and environmental health.
- Finance, economic development and public administration.
- Human resources and information technology.
- Other fields related to municipal services.
Mossel Bay Bursary eligibility requirements
- South African citizen living within Mossel Bay Municipality.
- Attended Grades 10 to 12 at a school in the municipality, confirmed by affidavit and a principal’s testimonial.
- In Matric, or have completed Matric.
- Intending to study full-time at a SAQA-accredited university, college or TVET college in South Africa.
- Gross household income of no more than R15 000 a month.
How to apply for the Mossel Bay Bursary
- Collect the application form from the Human Resources office at the Old Power Station Building, Munro Street, Santos Beach, or download it from mosselbay.gov.za when the call opens.
- Attach certified copies of: your ID; your Matric results or certificate; your latest academic record if already studying; a testimonial from your high school principal; an affidavit confirming you attended Grades 10 to 12 in Mossel Bay; a municipal account as proof of address; proof of application, acceptance or registration at the institution; details of any other bursary; and your parents’ or guardians’ proof of income (payslips, an affidavit, or a SASSA or pension letter).
- Submit by email to admin@mosselbay.gov.za with the subject line “Mossel Bay Municipality Bursary 2027”, by hand at the Human Resources reception, or by post to The Senior Manager: Human Resources, PO Box 25, Mossel Bay, 6500, before the closing time.
