SPEBS awards bursaries per semester.
VerifiedThe SAICE Patrons’ Engineering Bursary Scheme has helped civil engineering students since 1992. Funded by SAICE’s patrons, it pays a semester-by-semester contribution towards fees for students who have proven themselves in their first level of study.
About SPEBS
- For National Diploma and degree students in civil engineering.
- Up to about R7 000 per semester towards registration, tuition and books.
- Paid directly to the tertiary institution.
SPEBS eligibility requirements
- Studying civil engineering at a South African tertiary institution.
- Diploma students: passed first level (S1). Degree students: passed first year.
- Demonstrated financial need and good exam results.
- Proof of registration for the semester.
How to apply for SPEBS
- Download the application form from the SPEBS page on saice.org.za.
- Attach your latest results, proof of registration and proof of financial need.
- Send it to spebs@saice.org.za before the semester’s closing date.

Per semester. The second-semester 2026 round closed on 31 July 2026; the 2027 dates are not yet published.
