SAOTA (Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects) is a Cape Town architecture practice with an international reputation for residential and hospitality design. Since 2012 it has funded postgraduate architecture students through an annual bursary and taken them into the practice for their professional training.

About the SAOTA Bursary

  • Level: postgraduate architecture only, the BArch Honours or Master of Architecture year.
  • Coverage: a portion of tuition fees for the year.
  • After graduation: recipients complete their practical training (candidacy) with SAOTA in Cape Town.

  • South African citizen.
  • Accepted for, or registered in, a postgraduate architecture qualification at an accredited South African university.
  • Excellence in architecture studies, shown by your transcripts and portfolio.
  • Willingness to work at SAOTA after graduating.

How to apply for the SAOTA Bursary

  1. Open the bursary advert on SAOTA’s careers page at saota.breezy.hr when it is published.
  2. Complete the online form and upload: your ID; full academic transcripts on university letterhead; proof of acceptance on letterhead; a CV; a portfolio of no more than ten pages; and a motivational video of no more than 60 seconds.
  3. Submit before the closing date. Shortlisted candidates are interviewed at the Cape Town studio.
