VerifiedN6 is the final theory level of the NATED Report 191 programmes offered at TVET colleges. It is not a diploma by itself. What N6 is “equivalent to” depends on whether you have only the N6 certificate or the full National N Diploma.

Important: an N6 certificate on its own is a theory qualification. The full National N Diploma needs N4 to N6 theory plus workplace experience, and it is applied for through your college.
Is the National N Diploma the same as a university diploma?
They sit at the same NQF level, but they are different qualifications. A university diploma is awarded by a university and follows the higher education framework; the National N Diploma is issued by DHET through TVET colleges. Employers and universities decide how they treat it, so check with the institution or employer you are applying to.
What the NATED phase-out means for N6
- N6 certificates and National N Diplomas already awarded remain valid.
- Students who finish their theory after 30 June 2026 receive a Statement of Results instead of a certificate.
- All National N Diploma requirements must be met by 30 June 2029.
