This bursary is not tied to a specific field of study and this will allow you the freedom to pursue your chosen academic path at the UFS.
It also covers a significant portion of your tuition fees in order to ease the financial load of tertiary education.
If you are selected for this bursary, you can choose your desired field of study at the UFS with no restrictions placed on your academic interests.

UFS & Media24 Matriculant Bursary Application Form
The applications for the UFS & Media24 Matriculant Bursary usually open in April and close in August each year.
To apply, you’ll need to complete the online application form available on the UFS website. The form requires you to submit:
- Your academic record, including your Matric results and any relevant achievements.
- A motivational essay outlining your academic goals, leadership qualities, and community involvement.
- Letters of recommendation from teachers or mentors.
- Proof of financial need (optional).
UFS & Media24 Matriculant Bursary Requirements
As an applicant, if you want to be eligible for the bursary, you must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Currently be in your Matric year.
- Have achieved excellent results in your Matric exams, typically with an average above 70%.
- Demonstrate strong leadership potential and involvement in your community.
- Intend to register and study full-time at the UFS for the following academic year.
