CPUT charges an application fee to process admission forms.

After receiving an offer of study, you must pay the registration fee and the minimum payment toward your tuition fees before completing online registration.

Tuition amounts vary by programme and faculty, and payments must be made by required deadlines to secure your registration.

CPUT Application Fee 2027 (Non-refundable)

When applying to study at CPUT, all applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee before the application can be processed.

The standard application fee is R100, and this must be paid when you submit your application form.

If CPUT accepts late applications for a particular programme after the closing date, a late application fee of R150 may apply.

This fee is charged to cover administrative costs and does not guarantee admission.

You must attach proof of your application fee payment to your application form or submission.

Keep the original proof of payment in a safe place for your records. Applications cannot be processed if the required fee is not paid.

Prospective students can apply online through the CPUT Online Application Portal or complete a downloadable PDF form from the official site.

CPUT Registration Fee 2027 (Initial Payment)

Once you receive an official offer of study from CPUT, you must pay a registration fee and the required minimum initial payment (MIP) toward your tuition fees before you can complete registration.

CPUT’s registration fee is a compulsory payment that must reflect in your student account before your online registration can be processed.

This fee covers administrative costs for enrolling in your programme.

Past fee guides show that the registration fee is usually charged per academic year and may be similar to previous years, but you should always confirm the exact amount on the official CPUT fees page before payment deadlines.

In addition to the registration fee, you must pay a deposit toward your tuition fees before registration is finalised.

In the most recent information available, many first-year students were expected to pay an amount such as R3 500 upfront for tuition before registration in January, though this figure is subject to revision for 2027.

If you plan to live in residence, additional deposits or residence payments are required before residence registration.

These amounts are separate from the tuition and registration fee and are specified in the official CPUT residence guideline for your campus.

CPUT Tuition Fee Structure per Faculty

After registration, the total tuition fees at CPUT are calculated based on the programme you enrol in, the number of subjects or modules you register for, and whether you are a South African, SADC, or international student.

The university does not publish a flat fee for all students because tuition is structured per subject and per programme.

CPUT faculties include:

  1. Faculty of Applied Sciences
  2. Faculty of Business and Management Sciences
  3. Faculty of Education
  4. Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment
  5. Faculty of Health and Wellness Sciences
  6. Faculty of Informatics and Design

Tuition fees are based on the total credits or course load you undertake in a year.

You can request a personalised tuition cost estimate through the CPUT Student Fees Quotation Tool, where you enter your module codes to calculate your anticipated tuition fees for 2027.

International students are usually required to pay additional levies and may need to settle a portion of their fees before registration.

Specific international fee information is available on the CPUT International Students Information Page.

How to Pay Your Fees (Bank Details)

CPUT provides official bank account details where students must deposit their application, tuition, and registration fee payments.

Use your student number or ID number as the reference when making payments so they are correctly allocated to your student account.

Official CPUT Bank Details for Fee Payments:

  • Bank: ABSA Bank – Public Sector Western Cape
  • Account Name: Cape Peninsula University of Technology
  • Account Number: 405 354 8487
  • Branch Code: 632005
  • SWIFT Code (for international payments): ABSA ZA JJ
  • Reference: Your student number

Payments can also be made at the cashiers on your selected CPUT campus in person if allowed.

Always confirm the correct account details on the official CPUT fee pages before transferring or depositing funds to avoid misallocation.

Fees for NSFAS Funded Students

If you are funded by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), NSFAS can pay your registration and tuition fees directly to CPUT once your funding is approved and confirmed before registration closes.

To take advantage of this, you must ensure that your NSFAS funding status is finalised early and that proof of funding is submitted to the CPUT Student Finance office.

Even with NSFAS funding, you may need to pay the registration fee yourself if NSFAS has not confirmed your funding before registration deadlines.

It is important to check your funding status regularly and submit any requested documents promptly.
