About the Afrimat Bursary

The Afrimat Bursary Program offers financial assistance to South African students residing in the Northern Cape.

The bursary is awarded to students enrolled in National Diploma, BTech, or Bachelor’s Degree programs in the following fields:

  1. Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mining, Metallurgical)
  2. Geology
  3. Environmental Studies
  4. Human Resources (N4-N6 Certificates are also considered)

Afrimat Bursary Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Afrimat Bursary, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

  2. Reside within the Northern Cape province
  3. Have completed your Matric (Grade 12) exams
  4. Be currently enrolled in a National Diploma, BTech, or Bachelor’s Degree program in one of the fields mentioned above
  5. Be registered at a recognized and accredited South African tertiary institution (University, Higher Education Institution, or TVET College)
  6. Have achieved a minimum average of 65% in your current year of study
  7. Demonstrate medical fitness as per the Mine Health and Safety Act and Afrimat’s company standards
  8. (Preference will be given to) Students from the JTG and Tsantsabane communities
  9. (Preference will be given to) Students from designated groups and historically disadvantaged backgrounds, aligning with Afrimat’s commitment to Employment Equity and workforce diversification

Shortlisted candidates may be required to submit a stamped proof of residence from their municipality upon selection.
