Based in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, the company supplies products to the industrial, agricultural, mining, civil engineering, construction, and commercial sectors, both locally and internationally.

Cape Gate invites students to apply for the Isaac Joffe Fellowship Bursary for the 2026 academic year. The bursary supports undergraduate engineering students who show strong academic ability and financial need.

Fields of Study Covered

The bursary is awarded for full-time Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) studies in the following fields:

Electrical Engineering
Electronic Engineering
Mechatronics Engineering
Metallurgical Engineering

Only these listed engineering fields are funded.

What the Bursary Covers

The bursary provides comprehensive financial support, which may include:

  • Registration fees
  • Tuition fees
  • Book allowance
  • Once-off computer allowance
  • Personal allowance
  • Accommodation in residence and meals, or a living allowance for off-campus students

Funding is awarded for one academic year at a time and may be renewed annually based on satisfactory academic performance. Funding is only provided for the normal minimum duration of the qualification.

Selection Process

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted in writing and invited to attend an interview. Final selection outcomes will be communicated by 31 January 2026.

If you do not receive any communication by that date, please consider your application unsuccessful.

Bursary Obligations

Successful bursary recipients must:

Participate in paid vacation work at Cape Gate during the December and January holidays.
Work for Cape Gate (Pty) Ltd after graduation for a period equal to the number of years funded.

This employment is paid at market-related rates and offered at the company’s discretion. If a student fails to meet this obligation, they will be required to repay all bursary funds received, plus interest.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. You must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
  2. You must be studying or intending to study full-time toward a BEng degree in one of the listed engineering fields.
  3. You must be entering your 1st or 2nd year of study in 2026.
  4. You must be studying or intending to study at a recognised and accredited university in South Africa.
  5. You must have a strong academic record.
  6. You must have proven financial need.
  7. You must not be receiving any other bursary or financial assistance.

Failure to meet any requirement will result in your application not being considered.
