About the Bursary
CEF SOC Ltd, a state-owned company reporting to the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy, offers bursaries to build South Africa’s energy sector capacity.

Fields of Study Funded
Funding is available for first-time enrolment in degree or diploma programmes in STEM fields related to the energy sector.

Eligibility Criteria
You must meet all of the following:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be between 16 and 26 years old
- Have achieved a 70 % average in your final Grade 12 results, or if already studying, maintain a 70 % average in your first year of higher education
- Demonstrate financial need, with a gross household income not exceeding R600 000 per annum
- Be registered (or provisionally accepted) for your first degree or diploma at a public institution
Required Documents
Include the following certified copies in your application package:
- Grade 12 mid-year and final results (with 70 % average)
- Provisional admission letter from a university or college
- Applicant’s certified ID
- Parent’s or guardian’s certified ID
- Proof of financial status (payslips, affidavit, or social grant documentation)
- Proof of residential address
Late or manual submissions will not be accepted.
