Calvin and Family Group (CFG) is a Durban-based group in property development, construction and security services. Its bursary funds students in the fields its businesses employ, from engineering and law to cybersecurity and forensic investigation, and unusually it also considers students who are stuck with outstanding fees.

About the CFG Bursary

  • Fields: agriculture, commerce, cybersecurity, engineering, forensic investigation, law and security management.
  • Covers tuition and study costs for full-time study at an accredited South African institution.
  • Applicants with outstanding student debt are welcome to apply.

CFG Bursary eligibility requirements

  • South African citizen with a Matric certificate.
  • At least 60% in English and in the subjects relevant to the chosen field.
  • Studying, or accepted, full-time in a listed field.
  • Demonstrated financial need. Preference for previously disadvantaged applicants and students with disabilities.

How to apply for the CFG Bursary

  1. Prepare a certified ID, certified Matric certificate, your current academic record and proof of acceptance on the institution’s letterhead, proof of any outstanding student debt, a one-page motivation letter, your parents’ or guardians’ certified IDs and proof of household income (payslips, an affidavit or grant or pension documents).
  2. Email everything to bursaries@calvinandfamily.co.za with the subject line “CFG Bursary Application” before 15 January.
  3. Shortlisted applicants are contacted for interviews; incomplete applications are not considered.
