DirectAxis, the personal loans and insurance provider, has run a university scholarship judged on an essay rather than on need or a field of study. Two students a year received R20 000 each for writing well about money. The scholarship has not been advertised for several years, and this page records what it offered and how to check whether it returns.

How to apply for the DirectAxis Scholarship
- Email scholarship@directaxis.co.za to confirm whether a 2027 round is running and what the essay prompt is.
- Follow DirectAxis on its social media channels, as the competition rules require.
- Write an essay of 1 200 to 1 500 words on the prompt (previously: the biggest financial mistake you have made and what you learned from it) and a biography of about 250 words, and email both before the closing date.
