The Dr Aadil Moerat Medical Bursary Trust was founded in 1998 in memory of Dr Aadil Moerat, an anti-apartheid activist and doctor who chose to practise in Cape Town’s poorest communities. The trust funds a small number of undergraduate health sciences students at Western Cape universities each year, choosing students who combine academic ability and financial need with the community service he stood for.
