DSV, the global logistics and freight forwarding group, funds the studies of its South African employees and their dependants through the DSV Empowerment Trust. The bursary is open to any accredited qualification at a public institution and is administered by Career Wise, so it is one of the more flexible employer bursaries available, but only to the DSV family.

  • Fields: any accredited course, diploma or degree of at least three years at a public tertiary institution in South Africa. Postgraduate study is excluded.
  • Covers tuition and related study costs, with the amount set per student and paid through Career Wise.
  • Renewed each year on academic progress.

DSV Empowerment Trust Bursary eligibility requirements

  • A permanent employee of DSV South Africa, or the legal or financial dependant of one.
  • A black South African citizen (African, Coloured, Indian or Chinese) as defined in the B-BBEE codes.
  • Accepted, or studying, at an accredited public tertiary institution in South Africa.
  • A satisfactory academic record in Matric or current studies.

How to apply for the DSV Empowerment Trust Bursary

  1. Get the year’s advert and application code from DSV HR or Career Wise, then register on the Career Wise pre-registration portal at careerwise.co.za.
  2. Upload an ID-size photograph, a certified ID, certified Matric or ABET results, higher education records if already studying, the employee’s latest payslip and a motivation letter. Dependants add a provisional acceptance letter, a nominating letter from the DSV employee and proof of birth or guardianship.
  3. Submit before midnight on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications are rejected.
