Who Can Apply?
The FASSET bursary is targeted at learners who demonstrate both academic excellence and a commitment to the financial services industry. To qualify, you must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Have completed Matric in 2025 with a minimum average of 75%
- Passed Mathematics and Accounting
- Be accepted or registered at a recognised public university, university of technology, or TVET college
- Have a household income below R1 000 000 per year
For employed learners already in the FAS sector, the bursary is available if you are studying a qualification aligned with FASSET’s list of scarce skills.

What Does the Bursary Cover?
Depending on your study level, the bursary can cover:
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed textbooks
- Accommodation and meal allowance (depending on the stream)
- Up to R100 000 per year for university students
- Up to R40 000 per year for TVET college students
- For employed learners: tuition and textbooks up to R50 000 per academic year
This funding ensures that students can concentrate fully on their studies without worrying about financial limitations.
How to Apply
Applying for the FASSET bursary is straightforward but requires careful preparation:
- Complete the online application on the FASSET bursary portal.
- Prepare certified documents including:
- ID document (not older than 6 months)
- Matric certificate / NSC results (certified)
- Acceptance or registration letter from your institution
- Proof of household income or employment confirmation
- Upload all documents in one submission before the closing date.
Applications are reviewed based on academic performance, alignment to FASSET’s priority fields, and first-come-first-served criteria for certain streams.
