Gibela Bursary Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Gibela Bursary, you must meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship: Be a South African citizen.
- Education Level:
- TVET Students: Completed Matric with a minimum level 4 for Mathematics, Science, and English. Currently enrolled in or intend to enroll in a relevant program at a recognized and accredited TVET institution in 2025.
- University/University of Technology Students: Completed Matric with a minimum level 6 for Mathematics, Physical Science, and Accounting, and level 5 for English. Currently enrolled in or intend to enroll in a relevant program at a recognized and accredited University or University of Technology in 2025.
- Academic Record: Demonstrate a strong academic record and potential for future success.
- Financial Need: Be in demonstrable financial need.
- Program of Study: Be enrolled in or intend to enroll in one of the following fields:
- TVET College: Boiler-makers, Control and instrumentation technicians, Electricians, Fitters and Turners, Mechanics, Millwrights, Pattern-makers, Plumbers, Vehicle-builders, Welders.
- University/University of Technology: Accounting, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information Technology, Logistics Management, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Supply Chain.
Gibela Bursary Application Requirements
To apply for the Gibela Bursary, you must submit the following documents:
- Certified copy of your South African ID document
- Certified copies of your full academic record
- Short Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Certified copy of your parents’ or guardians’ proof of income (latest payslips, affidavit if unemployed/informally employed, or proof of grant/pension)
- Proof of acceptance from a TVET institution (on institution letterhead) for TVET applicants only
