Gold One Bursary Requirements, Application and Closing Dates

Gold One Group Limited, through its New Shelf 1186 (Gedex) operations in Brakpan, Gauteng, offers a bursary programme for South African students. 

This bursary targets both external candidates from local host communities and internal applicants (Gold One employees or their dependents). 

It supports studies in technical, engineering, science and finance fields. 

The aim is to develop skilled graduates who can contribute to mining and its related industries while empowering the company’s home communities.

Gold One Bursary Eligibility Requirements

1. Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
2. Residence (for external): Must reside in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (e.g. Springs, Benoni, Brakpan, Nigel).
3. Academic status: Must be in Matric or have completed Matric.
4. Tertiary acceptance: Must be registered or accepted at a recognised South African tertiary institution.
5. Fields of study: Eligible fields include:
   • Mining Engineering
   • Geological & Earth Sciences
   • Mechanical Engineering
   • Metallurgical Science
   • Financial Studies
   • Other fields may be considered for internal applicants
6. Financial need: Must demonstrate financial need.
7. Preference: Given to students from mine-hosting communities (Springs, Brakpan, Benoni, Nigel).
8. Internal applicants: Must be permanent Gold One employees or direct dependents.
9. Document certification: Supporting documents must be SAPS-certified.

Gold One Bursary Application Process

1. Apply via the online bursary portal specified by Gold One.
2. Prepare and upload the following as certified PDF documents:
   • South African ID document.
   • Proof of tertiary registration or acceptance.
   • Formal quotations for study costs (tuition, books etc.).
   • Proof of household income (payslips, affidavits, grant proof).
   • Proof of residence (for external applicants).
   • Internal applicants also submit a special internal form (from Gold One’s Time & Attendance).
3. Make sure all uploaded files are in PDF format only.
4. Submit the full application before the closing date.
5. Shortlisted applicants may undergo further screening (such as interviews or checks).
6. If selected, you will sign a bursary agreement with Gold One.

Gold One Bursary Closing Date

What the Gold One Bursary Covers

• Tuition fees.
• Examination fees.
• Prescribed textbooks.
• University-administered accommodation (for full-time students).

What the Gold One Bursary Does Not Cover

1. Living stipends or monthly allowances.
2. Transport costs.
3. Laptops or data costs.
4. Meals.
5. Short courses or other non-degree training.

Obligations for Recipients

You must sign a bursary contract with Gold One. You are expected to maintain good academic performance.

Preference is given to applicants from Gold One’s host communities, so your performance and background are likely evaluated in that context.
