Haleon is a consumer health company created in 2022 when GSK and Pfizer spun off their consumer healthcare businesses. Its brands include Panado, Sensodyne, Voltaren, Centrum and Grand-Pa, and it manufactures in Cape Town. For the 2024 academic year Haleon offered a bursary to final-year engineering students as a pipeline into its South African manufacturing operation.
Status for 2027 (checked September 2026): the only advertised cycle closed on 1 November 2023. No bursary has been advertised for 2025, 2026 or 2027, and Haleon’s early-talent careers page does not currently list a South African student programme. The requirements below are from the 2024 cycle.
About the Haleon Bursary
The bursary funded the final year or two of an engineering degree in:
- Automation, electronic or mechatronic engineering
- Electrical engineering
- Mechanical engineering
- Reliability engineering (mechanical or electrical)
Qualifications were BEng, BSc(Eng), BTech or a final-year Master of Engineering. Bursars were expected to join Haleon’s graduate programme at the Cape Town site after qualifying.
Haleon Bursary eligibility requirements
- South African citizen with Matric.
- Full-time student in third or final year of one of the degrees above, or final year of a Master of Engineering, at an accredited South African university.
- An average of at least 65% in the most recent semester, with all subjects passed.
- Demonstrated financial need.
- Strong organisational, communication and teamwork skills, which were assessed at interview.
Haleon Bursary application process
Applications were made online through Haleon’s early-talent careers portal, with a certified ID, certified Matric certificate, recent academic transcripts including mid-year results, and an updated CV. Any future round would be advertised on haleon.com/careers/early-talent.
Haleon Bursary closing date
The 2024 cycle closed on 1 November 2023. No 2027 closing date has been published.
